BREAKING NEWS: Innocent Man Almost Executed TODAY, Saved By New Evidence

Missouri Governor Eric Greitens stopped the execution of a man named Marcellus Williams, scheduled to be put to death on Tuesday after his attorneys argued that recent DNA evidence shows he is innocent.

Williams’ execution had been set for Tuesday evening at the state prison in Bonne Terre, Mo. He was convicted of first-degree murder in 2001 for stabbing to death former St. Louis Post-Dispatch reporter Lisha Gayle, 42, during a robbery at her University City home. DNA testing of the murder weapon, conducted in 2016, was inconclusive. (USA TODAY)

I took a look at twitter to see what was going on and found many people trying to shed light on the situation before it happened…

I also found that there was a petition going around on twitter being signed to stop the execution, i’m not sure if that was the reason for the stop or not
