Want to know how you can support those involved in Hurricane Harvey?
If you have been asleep as the Southern Region is experiencing one of the four judgements of unusual rain, Hurricane Harvey has caused calamitous flooding in southeastern Texas.
Many are asking how they can get involved to help at least one family.
- Share and retweet reports for rescuing
- Financial contributions
- Donate clothing and food
One way is by sharing and retweeting reports of those who are working towards evacuating for safety. Oftentimes, we don’t see the value of social media, but families have been saved thanks to thumb warriors.
Although the hurricane has ceased, there are still families stuck in their homes who are looking for a way out. You can keep track by following hashtags such as: #HarveyRescue, #Hounews, #Harvey, #HarveySOS and mention @HarveyRescue on Twitter.
Another way is through financial contributions. Although many are risking their lives to save others across Texas, it’s a lot of resources that are being put to use to effectively help others secure safety. Donate to your Brother and Sister. Oftentimes we don’t know where the money goes when we give to organizations that are connected to the government. Give to those who are consistently out in the streets for our benefit as a whole.
Did you know The Nation of Islam has a team who works alongside The National Guard when disasters happen? If not, the team lives right in Houston. The 10,000 Fearless First Responders (10K FFR) are on the ground at your service ready to assist those in Houston and others when future disasters arise across the U.S. The 10K FFR are actively prepared, but all allocations intended for the purpose of disasters are independently funded. Therefore, your support of this cause will greatly be a accepted and appreciated. You may donate here.
Have any food or clothes that you may donate or purchase specifically for give away? If you can imagine so many families have lost their belongings and will begin starting over to continue on with life. What about the family who has money? As far as the accessible stores filthy devils have gouged prices for pennies making it troublesome for families to get a hold of necessities to travel or secure water for drinking (but we’ll discuss this more in a future post). Therefore, families with funds have limited options for shopping at stores that remain open.
Starting today in Houston, The Nation of Islam is accepting donations of all support that will benefit families at Muhammad Mosque #45 (address included in the photo). Examples of donations are as follows, but are not limited to: blankets, clothing, diapers, food, medical supplies, sheets, toiletries, towels, water, etc. Donations will be compiled from Thursday, August 31 – Sunday, September 3 from 9 AM – 9 PM.
We pray this short list helps your heart that hopes to give.
