Soda? It’s Better to Make Your Own!

Most people love soda! It’s fizzy, it’s fun, it’s delicious! Unfortunately, the majority of the sodas people drink don’t offer many other benefits, and they can even be detrimental to your health. In my household, we drink tons of water, and we frequently make fresh juices and smoothies, but sometimes the little ones want soda. Instead of giving them unhealthy sodas, I frequently make sodas at home. It’s easy, and often tastes even better. We like it so much, I figured I’d share one of my easy soda recipes with you!

Here’s what you’ll need to make a citrus soda:

  • 12 ounces of sparkling water*
  • 2-4 tbsp lemon juice (fresh squeezed is best, but bottled is ok)
  • 1-2 tbsp dark maple syrup (add more or less if you like)
  • Ice cubes (optional)

*Check the ingredients on the sparkling water to make sure it doesn’t contain phosphoric acid.

That’s really it! Stir, enjoy! Use any kind of citrus you like, and you can mix different fruits. If you prefer, skip sweetener, or try playing with natural sweeteners like maple syrup, honey, and coconut sugar. It’s all good!

Making home made soda is a more nutritious alternative to store-bought.  All the fun, all the flavor, none of the drawbacks!
